- Theme-locked — only the day's themed solution words are accepted, no other words count

Speed Streak
A sudden-death sprint mode for players who clear the daily puzzle fast. Built for competition, not casual play.
- Unlock — solve today's daily 4×4 in under 60 seconds. Miss the cut and Speed Streak stays locked for the day.
- Round 1 — 60 seconds to clear a fresh 4×4. Clear it and your streak goes to 1.
- Round 2+ — every following grid gives you only 30 seconds. Clear it, streak ticks up.
- Sudden death — miss a round (time-out or quit) and the streak locks in for the day. No retries.
- Free tools — Undo, Reset and Compact are available mid-round at no time penalty.
- Tracked separately — your daily 🔥 streak and your ⚡ Speed Streak are independent, with their own best-ever record.
- Resets at midnight — fresh shot at a higher streak every day.
Special Days
The daily grid stays a 4×4 of 16 tiles, but two days of the week change the rules:
- ✨ Wacky Wednesday — the grid hides 3 or 5 words instead of the usual 4. Same 16 tiles, very different rhythm.
- ⬇️ Gravity Friday — clearing a word makes the remaining tiles fall down and columns shift in. Every move reshapes the board.
- Other days — a clean 4×4 with four 4-letter words. Pure pattern recognition.
